Quek remarked that I didn't look so stressed this year, or more particularly, at this time where people start going cuckoo trying to burst their brains studying. Not true, not extremely, but sometimes I know that it's useless to keep worrying and doing nothing at all. Instead, it's better to just do your best and put the worrying aside. That said, I'll still worry of course, but just not in large quantities. Hee.
So let's talk about famine in Africa and the Presidential Election.
The link? It appeared in today's Straits Times.
Famine in Africa where one in three doesn't get food to eat. Or where one can go hungry 3 or 4 days in a row. Or where even when there's food, they can't keep it down. Pictures and situations meant to shock the world, to raise awareness of an issue that the UN will bring up come September 14. Let's hope soemthing can be done, that the goal set 5 years again by the UN for the new millennium to halve the amount of people suffering from famine to half. Sometimes even if we want to help out with aid, the political situation in that country doesn't allow us that option.
Presidential election and the lack of a contest. I agree that having an election would in a way legitamize the president, showing that he indeed was the people's choice. But then again, the previous person has been doing a good job...I know there was an article a while back that commented that electing the president wasn't as important as electing the ministers that would rule the country. True, true. I don't want to debate the issue of whether it does matter or not, but rather, let's look forward to the General Election. Commenting on political issues has always be rather iffy.
Service. A rather simple word that can change a great deal. I suggest Citigems if anyone wants to get jewelry. The price is quite value for money for their quality and their service is fantastic. Even if the price was a little more than I was willing to pay, I might very well do so just because of the service I recieved. I went to several jewelry stores on friday, just to look see for a present for mum, which I could actually afford. Without a doubt, the man who served me at Citigems was the best. He was told outright that there would be no buying today, but yet he showed me the jewelry and introduced products with enough finnase to not be pushy. I suspect I'll return there to get MY own stuff in the future. Even the other lady who served me for a little while when he went to take a break was nice. And the price wasn't that frightening, the designs eye-catching. The salesguy said "It's nice isn't it, I can see in your eyes that you want it too." Haha, too true. Now if only money dropped from the sky.
